For Authors

Submit Manuscript

Eligibility

Any undergraduate student may submit their research and scholarly work to Aletheia. Manuscript submissions after the author’s graduation are welcome if the bulk of the work was completed before the primary author’s undergraduate graduation. Submission and processing fees are waived for Alpha Chi members. Nominal fees are required for non-members. Collaborative authorship is also welcome and should follow the convention of the discipline of the scholarship. Questions regarding authorship and undergraduate status should be directed to an editor.

Non-Member Fees

For undergraduates who are not members of Alpha Chi, a 75.00 nonrefundable fee is due at the time of submission. Published papers by non-members will be subject to an Article Processing Fee of 100.00-200.00, depending on the length and complexity of the submission, billed at the time of publication.

General Manuscript Eligibility

Submissions should contribute to scholarship in new, creative, and engaging ways, rather than just providing an overview of previous scholarly work. All work should be free from falsehood, fabricated or misleading data, plagiarism, or any form of dishonest scholarship.

Literature reviews or summaries of the work of others are unlikely to be published in Aletheia.

A manuscript should be uploaded as a Microsoft Word document along with all tables, equations, figures, captions, images, and other manuscript components.

Authors may only submit one manuscript for consideration at a time.

Submissions must be in English and be in any basic or applied field of study, including physical and life sciences, social sciences, humanities, education, engineering, and the arts. Examples of research articles that may be accepted include the following:

  • reports on empirical quantitative and qualitative research
  • policy analysis
  • historical analysis
  • case studies
  • theoretical articles
  • methodological articles
  • critical literary or artistic analysis

Other types of scholarship that may be accepted include the following:

  • novellas, individual short stories, or individual creative essays
  • collections of poems
  • plays or film scripts
  • scores of musical works
  • recordings of live music, theatre, or dance performances
  • films, multimedia productions, or sound productions
  • original choreographic work
  • original works of art

Submission Deadlines

Aletheia welcomes manuscript submissions electronically at any time and generally intends to publish issues in the fall. To ensure fall publication, send submissions by April 15. If accepted, a submission will be published in the next available issue after it has been fully reviewed and prepared for publication.
